Today, as you go about your day, I want to encourage you to think about all the wonderful things you have in your life. The people that love you, the dependable car that you drive, the roof over your head, and the job that you are fortunate to get ready and go to today.
Friends, we have such a tendency to focus on the things that go wrong in our lives. We let flat tires ruin our day. When really we should be thinking, at least my car is running. A $25 tire fix is a minor inconvenience compared to replacing an entire vehicle.
I live in a precious home, that was built in the 1960’s, it definitely has a few quirks. On my bad days, I sit in this lovely home and dream about living in a home that doesn’t have any little quirks; no slow draining bathtub, no old, weird front window, no crooked hanging cabinet door in the kitchen that has to be pulled up everyday. But then I remember, I bought this house. Myself. I always dreamed of owning my own home and I did it. I have put a lot of love into this cute, quirky little home and it is mine. This home is a dream come true. It may not be my dream home, but it did fulfill a dream.
So much of our lives are spent in the wrong frame of mind. We are so focused on what we don’t have that we can’t hardly even see what we do have. Truthfully our haves, far outweighs our have nots. In moments of frustration, can I encourage you to focus on the haves? There are so many things to be thankful for. Celebrate the quirks in your 1960’s home, a new home might not have those quirks, but it’ll have a set of its own. Bigger, newer and nicer isn’t always better, know that those homes have issues too. It’s the mindset that truly matters, love where you are, and you’ll be ready for what’s next. Much love sweet friends.
