I was listening to a sermon yesterday by Dr. Dharius Daniels and he made the statement, ”The first temptation in the bible was to focus on lack – you have all these tress in the garden but you can’t have that one. Adam and Eve lost the entire garden over one tree.” How much has the one tree in your life cost you?
One of the greatest deceptions in life is the belief that whatever you are pursuing is going to be so much better than what you have. And so many of our stories go. We lose our health, our happiness, our spouses, our families, our financial stability through the pursuit of more. We literally cannot get enough.
We land the dream job and immediate start looking for the next job. We want larger salaries, larger offices, larger staffs. All those things are great, but they come at a great cost. More means more in all areas. More attention, more responsibility, more stress, more pressure. We have become so addicted to the chase that we have no idea how to act once we get it. When the pursuit becomes more captivating than attainment we have already lost.
How often we purchase our ”dream” home or ”dream” car just to be looking again a year later. We are a dissatisfied society with endless choices and endless access to credit. We cannot even appreciate our current blessing because we are too worried about the next one. Sweet friends, where you are now, was once a place you only dreamed of. Whatever the last dream was, you’re literally in the middle of it. You’re living your miracle.
Today, look at your life and see abundance, not lack. Look at what you do have, not what you don’t have. Stop the pursuit of more. Be where your feet are. Reflect. Be grateful. Enjoy. Rest. Today be full of gratitude and joy. Be in awe of where you’ve come. Be overjoyed by the unfolding of your dreams. Honor the delays, they are all part of the plan. Admire your life the way an outsider does. It’s beautiful. It’s real. And, it’s right in front of you. Much love and appreciation sweet friends.
